Sunni Islam is the largest branch of Islam, following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as preserved by his Companions and recorded in the Quran and Hadith. Proper Sunni beliefs include:

  1. Tawheed (Oneness of Allah): Belief in the absolute oneness of Allah, His divine attributes, and that He has no partners or equals.

  2. Prophethood (Risalah): Belief in all prophets, with Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the final messenger.

  3. The Quran & Hadith: The Quran is the final revelation from Allah, and the Hadith (teachings of the Prophet) provide guidance for life.

  4. The Five Pillars of Islam:

    • Shahada (Faith): Declaring belief in one God (Allah) and Muhammad (ﷺ) as His messenger.

    • Salah (Prayer): Performing the five daily prayers.

    • Zakah (Charity): Giving obligatory alms to the needy.

    • Sawm (Fasting): Observing fasting during Ramadan.

    • Hajj (Pilgrimage): Performing pilgrimage to Mecca if able.

  5. Belief in Angels: Angels are created by Allah and carry out His commands, such as Jibreel (Gabriel) delivering revelations.

  6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr): Everything happens by Allah’s will, whether good or bad.

  7. Day of Judgment & Afterlife: Belief in resurrection, accountability for deeds, Heaven (Jannah) for the righteous, and Hell (Jahannam) for wrongdoers.

  8. Following the Sunnah & the Four Schools of Thought: Many Sunni Muslims follow one of the four recognized schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali).

  9. Companions of the Prophet (Sahaba): Respecting and following the teachings of the Sahaba without extreme views.

  10. Avoiding Innovations (Bid’ah): Sticking to authentic teachings and avoiding religious innovations that deviate from Islam.
